The
Mini Macaw
"Mini
Macaws Have All The
Personality Of Larger Macaws But
In A More Manageable Package"
Here's the good news
about Mini Macaws... they're basically all the fun and
excitement of a
Blue
And Gold Macaw, stuffed into a smaller body.
Sure they aren't quite as colorful, with most Mini Macaws being
mostly dark green with a little extra color hear and there, but
there are other benefits that make the Mini Macaw a bird worth
considering (as long as your willing to train your Mini Macaw
from day one)
The first, and
probably the most important reason to consider a mini macaw is
because being a smaller parrot means it'll be less intimidating to
overcome any future aggression problems -- which you should be able
to avoid all together with proper training. Click Here for
tips on training a Mini Macaw.
Another great benefit
to being a smaller bird is that Mini Macaws are not physically
capable of being as loud as their larger cousins, and therefore
become a whole lot easier to manage screaming issues. For help

Tip For A Better Behaved
Mini Macaw...
For the most part,
everything is smaller about a mini macaw except ONE thing...
it's ENERGY!
Mini Macaws have
much more energy than their cousins and therefore you'll need to
make sure you provide LOTS of toys for stimulation. But hear
me carefully... this doesn't mean you can buy 10 new toys for your
bird the day you get him, and not change those toys for another 5
years.
Just like a small
child, your Mini Macaw will lose interest in toys.
Heck, I know I'm still not playing with my G.I. Joe toys that I used
to when I was 5; so we shouldn't expect our Mini Macaws to have to
do the same thing.
This means you need to
constantly be watching how your Mini Macaw interacts with his toys.
Is there a toy he hasn't touched in a while? First switch it
up so it's easier for him to interact with, and if that doesn't
help, sell it on ebay and go get another toy, because it's not
doing your Mini Macaw any good!
You'll want to make
sure and set up a budget you can spend on new toys, or if money's
tight, at least be willing to make new toys out of cheaper material.
If you fail to do
this, I promise you I could walk into your home, take one look at
your Mini Macaw and tell if you've changed his toys in the last two
weeks. Failing to change your Mini Macaws toys will result
in him becoming bored, and possibly developing behavior problems,
phobias and loss of all interest in playing. It'd be like
locking you in a cell and never giving you anything to do... you'd
just end up going crazy!
